KENTUCKY BLUEGRASS

Kentucky Bluegrass prefers rich fertile soil, well drained with lots of sun. The underground roots spread to fill in thin areas to make a thick lawn. Kentucky Bluegrass goes dormant in hot, dry weather but it will recover when rain and cooler temperatures return. It can take up to 28 days for Kentucky Bluegrass to germinate under ideal conditions.

POA TRIVIALIS

POA Trivialis is a fine leafed bluegrass species that withstands shade or damp soils. Used in shade mixtures.

CREEPING RED FESCUE

Creeping Red Fescue is a fine leafed fescue that is drought tolerant, low maintenance, and withstands shade. Extremely winter hardy. Under ideal conditions it can take 20 days to germinate.

CHEWING FESCUE

Chewing Fescue is a fine leafed fescue that likes shady areas and low fertility soils, chewing fescue is aggressive and resistant to many diseases.

HARD FESCUE

Hard Fescue is a fine leafed fescue that is low growing, deep green colour. Can be used for erosion control or shady areas.

SHEEP FESCUE

Sheep Fescue is a fine leafed fescue that is low maintenance. Suited to natural or low fertility management program.

TALL FESCUE

Tall Fescue has a slightly wider blade than other fescues. Tall Fescue tolerates heat and drought exceptionally well because of its deep root system.

TURF TYPE PERENNIAL RYEGRASS

Turf Type Perennial Ryegrass is a fine leafed companion grass in any mixture or great for overseeding because of its quick germination. Many varieties are endophyte enhanced and those varieties show some resistance to leaf feeding insects.

ANNUAL RYEGRASS

Annual Ryegrass is an exceptionally quick germinating grass, used as a companion in some mixtures.

BENTGRASS

Bentgrass is mainly used on golf courses due to the high level of maintenance required and the ability to mow very short and often.

CROWN VETCH

Crown Vetch is used on steep slopes and banks to help with erosion control. It forms an attractive ground cover that may take up to 2 years to establish. Crown Vetch has a purple flower. It will not tolerate being cut or sprayed.

WHITE CLOVER

White Clover has a nitrogen fixing capacity that benefits the grass that grows along side it as well as competing against unwanted weeds.
